Wegner becomes the fastest bowler to take 200 wickets for New Zealand
The Kiwis have always been known for their horde of fast bowlers. And the conditions in New Zealand, it is not really a surprise for me. Many of the best fast bowlers emerged from the country.
New Zealand's usually have green pitches, 'English weather' and windy conditions have produced a huge line up of excellent swing and seam bowlers who revel in making the life of visiting batsmen difficult. Sir Richard Hadlee is one of them who has dominated the cricket.
Now Neil Wegner a left-arm fast bowler Neil Wegner became the second-fastest bowler to take 200 wickets for New Zealand in the Test.
Wegner become the fastest bowler
Richard Headley was named before him. Wegner achieved this by dismissing Steve Smith in the second Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Headley took 200 wickets in 44 Tests while Wagner achieved this position in the 46th Test.
Behind Wagner is Trent Boult, who took 200 wickets in 52 matches. Tim Southee and Chris Cairns achieved this feat in 56 and 58 matches respectively.
In addition, Wagner became the second-fastest left-arm bowler in the world to take the fastest 200 wickets. Before him, India's Ravindra Jadeja also took 200 wickets in 44 matches.
